Netherlands defeated South Africa: The 15th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 was played between Netherlands and South Africa on Tuesday, 17 October at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, in which Netherlands defeated South Africa by 38 runs and made the second biggest Upset of the tournament. South Africa proved to be chokers in this match too, their luck makes them lose the match while winning it. Due to bad weather the match was reduced to 43 overs.
Earlier, Afghanistan had also caused a major upset in the World Cup by defeating England by 69 runs. Afghanistan caused its first upset of the tournament. World Cup 2023 may be a very interesting phase where it has become very difficult to make any predictions. any team can do anything.
South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. The condition of Netherlands was not good or they lost their first wicket in the form of Vikramjit Singh at the score of 22 runs, then Netherlands kept losing their wickets, at one point Netherlands score was 140/7. After that Scott Edwards played a brilliant inning of 78 runs due to which Netherlands was able to make a respectable score of 245/8.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi, Mark Jansen and Kagiso Rabada took two wickets each while Gerald Coetzee and Keshav Maharaj took one wicket each. After a good start, it seemed that South Africa took Netherlands under 200 runs but the African bowlers were not able to bowl well in the end due to which Netherlands could score 245 runs in 43 overs.
Coming to chase the target of 245 runs, the South African team did not have a good start, they lost their first wicket in the form of Quinton De Kock for 36 runs. After that, South Africa kept losing its wickets continuously in general, only David Miller could play an inning of 43 runs which was not enough for the team to win. The wicket of Quinton de Kock was very important, who was dismissed by Colin Akkermann.
The Netherlands bowlers bowled amazingly. For the Netherlands, Logan Van Beek took 3 wicket. Paul Van Meekaran, Roelof Van Merwe and Bas De Leede took two wickets each. Colin Akermann took 1 wicket. Netherlands bowlers bowled amazingly and took South Africa’s wickets at regular intervals. Due to which South Africa could score 207 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 42.5 overs and Netherlands won the match by 38 runs. Netherlands ends 16-year drought by winning match against South Africa in World Cup.

The Man of the Match award was given to captain Scott Edwards for his brilliant innings of 78 runs. He had brilliant captaincy and also took good catches in today’s match.
